Slightly Irregular Conformity

A moment on movies

I miss old movies.  The kind you can just absorb, without all the explaining-to-death, without multiple angles and depths – good, to the point movies.

Out my of top 5 fave movies, two were released in 1986 and one in 1985 (Labyrinth, Highlander and Ladyhawke).  The others were 1990 (Pump Up the Volume) and 1998 (Dark City, which bucks the trend with as many depths, angles and aims as you can imagine).

Why do movies now have to be so all-encompassing?  What’s wrong with having ONE story, ONE point and ONE hero/anti-hero?
